Dei to Dei
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff of Mater Dei College,
I welcome new students and families to the Mater Dei College community. It is wonderful to be back at Mater Dei and I am excited about leading the College community in the role as Principal. I had the pleasure of addressing the students and staff at the full College assembly on Thursday where I spoke fondly of my time at Mater Dei more than 10 years ago and my vision for the students and staff moving forward.
It is an honour and a privilege to have been appointed to the position of Principal of this wonderful college community. My history with Mater Dei College is one that I am very proud of, commencing as a young teacher in the foundation years. Although the College has changed somewhat, the spirit of community and good will is something that is still very strong.
At the assembly, I asked all students to always give of their best and to strive for personal excellence. I am very passionate about students and staff treating each other with respect and I believe positive relationships are the key to a successful school.
At the commencement of the term we welcomed eight new students to the College. We also welcomed new staff member Mrs Madeleine Guggisberg. Mrs Guggisberg joins the Counselling Team and will be working very closely with our students. Welcome back to Mr Troy Wynne from long service leave in Semester One.
Thank you to the parents and students who attended the Parent-Student-Teacher interviews held on Tuesday 18, July. It was a wonderful opportunity to be introduced to some parents. Thank you to Deputy Principals Mrs Tamara Boyer and Mr John Sullivan for their organisation of the interviews.
My sincere thanks to Mr John Aldous for his leadership as Acting Principal throughout the past nine months. The College was certainly in very good hands.
I look forward to meeting many families throughout the remainder of the year.
