Academic Excellence Program
The Mater Dei College Academic Excellence Program gives high achieving students opportunities to extend and enrich their learning beyond the classroom, by demonstrating excellence across the curriculum and maximising their true potential.
The Program seeks to provide an education that is intentional, engaging and challenging to students in Years 8 to 10, who excel academically.
Students are encouraged to participate with like-minded academically talented students, in a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities over the course of the year.
Some of the activities and competitions students will be involved in include:
- The Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad (OzCLO)
- The daVinci Decathlon
- The Big Science Competition
- The Australian Brain Bee Challenge
- Tournament of Minds.
Students also participate in fully immersive days at the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University, as part of the Program.
Through collaboration in a positive and supportive learning environment, students will develop 21st Century learning skills, empowering students to achieve their best at school and beyond.
