Year 8 students of the Hawks AFL Academy will delve deeper into the development of a modern Australian Rules Footballer. The focus is aimed at ‘Game Sense Development’, providing each student with the knowledge and decision-making skills necessary for success within the sport. Female students will be educated on the structure of the AFLW talent pathway, with the frequent influence of members of the footballing community involved in the Academy.

Year 8 aspect includes:

  • Club Tour of Fremantle Dockers Football Club – Training Facility
  • Male & Female Guest Speakers – WPFC, FDFC, WCEFC
  • Opportunities to compete in interschool competitions (Eagles Schoolboys Cup, Falcons Youth Girls Competition and Fremantle Dockers Cup – Female Carnival)
  • Video Analysis feedback on skills
  • Level 1 Umpiring accreditation
  • Individual Skills Programme
  • HUDL (AFL Software) Game Sense Analysis feedback
  • Strength & Conditioning training program
  • Hawks Leaders Program – Mentorship program (West Perth Senior Players – Male & Female)

Pre-requisite: Year 7 Hawks Academy participant with C Grade or better
