Dei to Dei
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Today marks the mid-point of our first school term for 2017. I hope students enjoy their four-day break and the three-day long weekend will no doubt be welcomed by families. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, this week marks the beginning of Lent and we held an ashes ceremony during our Ash Wednesday liturgy. Thank you to Mrs O’Neill and everyone who assisted both during and in the preparation for this liturgy. Students have an opportunity over the coming 6 weeks to make contributions to Project Compassion within their Homeroom groups. I encourage families to support this very worthwhile cause to provide support to those around the world who suffer enormous hardship and do not enjoy the same comforts that we do.
Mrs O’Neill and Ms Croasdale organised the Year 11 Choicez Retreat on Thursday, ably supported by the staff in attendance and of course, by the Choicez team. I trust our Year 11 students gained much from the experience. A reminder that a Parents & Friends meeting is to be held in the College Boardroom this coming Tuesday 7 March at 7pm. I note that there are many camps and excursions coming up at Mater Dei in the next few weeks, which reminds us of the many wonderful opportunities that exist for our students to experience a range of activities outside the confines of the classroom walls.
Regards and God Bless,
