Rottnest Field Trip

From 8th – 10th March, the Year 11 and 12 ATAR Biology students, along with Mr Raymond, Mr Portwood, Mrs Croasdale and Miss O’Shea embarked on a three-day field studies research mission to Rottnest Island.

Over the three days we rode 50km around the island to destinations such as Parker Point and The Basin where we swam and snorkelled; and Lake Baghdad where we collected bone shrimp as well as frequent stops at the bakery and general store to purchase chocolates and chips to fuel our adventures. We also visited the museum to learn about Rottnest’s indigenous heritage and the effects of tourism on the environment.

We constructed towering sandcastles of beach treasures and ended our evenings with card games in which Mr Raymond always won.

Our trip concluded with a mellow ferry trip home in which we all caught up on some much needed sleep.

In conclusion, the 2017 Rottnest Field Trip was one to remember with many laughs, learning curves and treasured island discoveries.

Many thanks to all the teachers and staff and students who not only made it possible but memorable too.
