Japanese Tour

The 2017 Japanese tour was a whirlwind of excitement with life experiences, food, history, culture and new friends.

We spent the first week sightseeing and touring the beautiful history and culture of Japan. A few of the first week’s highlights included: Asakusa Buddhist temple, Art Museum, Todaiji Temple, Deer Park, Nijo Castel, peace museum and many more amazing things (including Disneyland).

During week two, we took the bullet train to Kagoshima and were off to our host families. What an astounding experience at Gyokuryu High School. There are hundreds of years or history in the school grounds, the class sizes are large and all the students clean the school.

The students experienced calligraphy classes, traditional kimono dress, and English and Chemistry classes with their host students. We did a day trip to Sakurajima, a live volcano, where some of us were lucky enough to be buried in the 50˚C volcanic sand which was a rejuvenating experience.

It was a privilege to be a part of the 2017 Japan tour, this was a life changing experience for myself and all the students who attended. We have made lifelong friends and memories.
